Veterans honored at George Patton Museum at Chiriaco Summit
Hundreds gathered in Chiriaco Summit today to pay tribute to those who have served our country.
A scene bursting with patriotic flair as the George Patton museum is filled with American flags. All to honor our veterans. Bells marking the 100 year anniversary of the end of world war one
Some decided to take this as a moment of reflection.
“There’s a lot of guys that didn’t make it back….lot of friends,” Edward Johnson, a Vietnam veteran from Indio said.
He came to see the wall at the museum honoring the veterans of that era and says Americans of all stripes fought for the country.

“Democrat or Republican or whoever what they are, they should feel proud of what they did. We’re all brothers and sisters,” Johnson said.
For one Korean War veteran, he’s honored by the gratitude he’s receiving.
“Wherever I go, somebody would come and say Thank you for your service and all my grandkids appreciate that,” Ray Moraga, a veteran from Blythe, said.
The event was marked with a flyover by WWII planes and attended by various local leaders including Palm Springs Mayor Robert Moon, a navy veteran.
“Freedom isn’t free. There’s a price to pay and part of that price is service to our country in uniform and hopefully this will inspire young people to join the military because it’s a great profession,” Mayor Moon said.
For Johnson he hopes people that attend understand that sacrifice that has been put forth.
“Remember everybody. Remember everybody that died for this country. It’s what you takeaway from it. We’re all together in this thing,” he said.
