Ernesto Gutierrez takes lead in Cathedral City Council race

New vote tallies released Sunday night from the County of Riverside Registrar of Voters brings candidate Ernesto Gutierrez up 18 votes ahead of John Anthony Rivera for district four in Cathedral City.

The new numbers entirely flip the leader in this election as more votes have yet to be processed.

According to the Registrar of Voters, approximately 34,000 vote-by-mail and 45,000 provisional ballots have yet to be processed. The next results are expected Monday at 5 p.m.

Certification of the results is expected by December 7th.
