Pacific storm system to swing through So Cal this week

Enjoy the sunny, warm weather while we have it as changes are in store for the Southland later this week.

The KESQ First Alert Weather Team is tracking a potent Pacific storm system currently moving into Northern California. The bulk of the energy will stay well to our North, but its trailing cold front will swing though SoCal later this week.

This system is poised to bring strong, gusty winds, scattered showers and cooler temperatures to the West Coast and Inland Empire late-Wednesday and then areas of the Coachella Valley and High Desert by Thursday. You can also expect the snow-level to fall from 8000-feet on Thursday to near 6500-feet by Friday morning which should result in a couple of inches of snow at the top of the Palm Springs Tramway.

A second cold front on Saturday won’t bring much in the way of rain, but it will usher in much cooler air keeping Coachella Valley mid-day highs this weekend in the low-to-middle 60s.
