Beaumont road back open after oil line rupture

A ruptured oil line spilled around 15 gallons of crude oil on a Beaumont roadway today, leading authorities to shut down a small portion of the street for about three hours for clean-up and repairs.

The ruptured line was reported at 11:39 a.m., prompting authorities to shut down California Avenue between Luis Estrada Road and Third Street, just south of Interstate 10.

No injuries were reported, according to Tawny Cabral of the Riverside County Fire Department.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the break.

The roadway was reopened about 2:40 p.m. following a repair of the leak, according to Cabral, who said the Riverside County Environmental Health Department would handle any follow-up investigation..
