After weekend dog attack, animal control look for stray dogs
Animal Control officials performed a stray dog sweep today in Anza after a woman was brutally mauled by three dogs outside of her home on Saturday.

A team of eight animal control officers and two licensing officers rounded up five dogs that weren’t contained and were roaming around the area. Officers also issued seven citations.
According to John Welsh, animal services chief/media relations & social media strategist, county animal control officials they felt a sweep was needed following the attack on the woman. An officer at the scene also told News Channel 3 they have received several complaints of loose pets and stray dogs in the area.
Animal control had last performed a stray sweep three months ago.
Welsh said the woman remains in the hospital but did not have an update on her condition. Her injuries were described to the responding officer as “severe.”

Welsh also said animal control officials spoke with an independent hearing officer regarding a destruction order on three dogs due to the severity of Saturday’s attack. The hearing officer is expected to make a decision in the next 10 days.
The three dogs in the attack were not strays. The owner of the dogs was arrested by a sheriff’s deputy after the incident. The owner had an outstanding felony warrant, Welsh said.
