Body found in Cathedral City, death not considered suspicious

Police are investigating the discovery of a man’s body in Cathedral City, according to Cathedral City Police Chief Travis Walker. The death is not considered suspicious, per officials.

At 6:24 this morning, CCPD officers responded to the area of Date Palm Drive and Gerald Ford Drive in Cathedral to investigate a report of a man on the ground. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased male in a dirt lot adjacent ot eh Oasis RV Park at 36100 Date Palm Drive.

The deceased is a 60-year-old man from Idaho. The investigation is being completed by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

Just before 7 a.m., five patrol cars and two detective vehicles were parked outside the Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort near the corner of Date Palm Drive and Gerald Ford Drive.

Police have placed a privacy screen in a grassy area.

Several News Channel 3 viewers called our newsroom at 7:00 a.m. reporting a body lying in a field near the RV park at 36100 Date Palm Drive.

Police were also seen going in and out of a trailer.
