Indio man arrested in connection with DHS police shooting and pursuit
Desert Hot Springs detectives obtained information that led to the arrest of 26-year-old Raymond Villegas of Indio on Saturday around 5:45pm. Villegas was booked for attempted murder of a police officer, along with several other felonies, at the Banning Jail.
His arrest comes after shots were fired at a Desert Hot Springs detective who was following a car thought to involved in a homicide the day prior. Authorities pursued the vehicle, however, the suspect escaped after crashing his vehicle in the desert area south of Two Bunch Palms Trail and West Drive.
