Mecca fire destroys home, displaces six

A fire tore through a home in Mecca and caused six people to be displaced Sunday morning.

The fire was reported at 8:23 a.m. in the 98000 block of Seascape Avenue, in a rural community just north of the Salton Sea, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Responding firefighters found the home well-involved in flames with its roof collapsed, a spokesperson for the department said.

Fire crews managed to contain the fire within an hour.

The American Red Cross was requested to assist the two adults and four children who were displaced by the blaze.
