Emily Blunt to receive Creative Impact in Acting award at PSIFF

Emily Blunt will receive the Creative Impact in Acting award at the 30th Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Last year, “Get Out” star Daniel Kaluuya took home the award. In years past, Charlize Theron, Mark Wahlberg, and Steve Carrell have taken home the honor.

The award is presented at the Variety Brunch, which will be held on January 4 at the Parker Palm Springs. Blunt will join fellow creative impact honorees Ryan Coogler, who will receive the Creative Impact in Directing Award for Black Panther, and Troye Sivian with the Creative Conscience Award.

“No actor has had a bigger year than Emily Blunt in 2018,” said Variety co-Editor-in-Chief, Claudia Eller. “From playing a mother fighting to save her family’s life in A Quiet Place to tackling one of cinema’s iconic characters in the musical Mary Poppins Returns, Emily Blunt has proven to be a versatile and commanding actress who can cross genres easily and with great success.”

The festival’s already-announced honorees include Timothee Chalamet (Spotlight Award), Rami Malek (Breakthrough Performance Award), Glenn Close (Icon Award), Melissa McCarthy (Spotlight Award), and Bradley Cooper (Director of the Year Award)

The festival runs from Jan. 3-14. Tickets are available at www.psfilmfest.org .
