U.S. citizen arrested after allegedly tossing drugs over the border fence

U.S. citizen arrested after allegedly throwing drugs over the Calexico border fence.

According to El Centro sector border agents, at around 4:41 a.m. Thursday, agents saw someone toss packages over the International Boundary Fence east of the Calexico Port of Entry.

Agents said they encountered a woman carrying a bag walking away from the area. Agents discovered three packages wrapped in brown adhesive tape inside the bag the woman was carrying. After a closer inspection of the area, agents recovered three more packages.

The woman, a 43-year-old U.S. citizen, and the packages were transported to the Calexico Border Patrol Station. Agents said the packages tested positive for the characteristics of methamphetamine. The combined weight of the packages totaled 10.4 lbs., with an estimated value of $114,393.

The woman and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
