Family of woman found dead behind La Quinta home speak out

Update 7:20 PM: Family confirmed George has been found safe and sound.

————————————-

Yesterday at around 9 a.m., the bodies of a man and a woman were found behind a home on the 79700 block of Independence Way La Quinta.

Tuesday night, the Riverside County Coroner identified two as Ada Heintz, 44, and Herman Heintz, 59.

Roads were closed in the area as deputies conducted a homicide investigation. Investigators were in the area until approximately 9:40 p.m.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department officials confirmed there was no suspect at large and no threat to public safety. No other information has been released in order to “maintain the integrity of the investigation.”

Family members are left with many questions after the tragedy.

“Yesterday was a tragic event that you’d never think would happen to yourself or even in your community especially here in the valley,” said Michael Adkins, Ada’s nephew.

Loved ones say they are still reeling from the shock of yesterday.

“The event’s yesterday we’re crazy and bizarre. So many people wondering what happened and I hope everyone hears the truth about what happened,” Michael said. “We’re doing the same thing just guessing and speculating.”

The family says they’re doing their best to process why and what exactly happened

“They’re doing alright, the brother and sister, they’re processing with it and they’re working through it and us as a family we’re doing it together,” Michael said.

The family also hope to find the Ada’s dog, who went missing yesterday. George is a small, white dog who may have short hair. They say he is blind and deaf and could not have gone too far on his own.

“Helping us find George would really help us because my aunt really loved that dog,” said Kayla Adkins, Ada’s niece.

Michael and Kayla said the dog is 14 years old and has been in the family for over 10 years. They’ve hung posters in the area, hoping they can find him and bring a bit of home and peace back to their grieving family.

“We’re just trying to find him and get some peace in this tragic event,” Michael said.
