Cancer survivors ring ‘Survivor’s Bell’ in Palm Springs
Over 60 cancer survivors came to Desert Regional Medical Center today to ring the newly-installed ‘Survivor’s Bell’ three times; the first toll signifying their cancer journey, the second standing for the friends and family that helped them along their path, and the third in recognition Oncology team who administered their care.
“Today marks kind of the beginning of a new chapter for us so that all of our patients can really reflect on their experience, close the chapter, and begin a new one,” said Todd Burke, a cancer survivor and the Director of Communications for the Desert Care Network.
The unveiling event was held at the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) at Desert Regional and welcomed survivors regardless of where they received their treatment or where they were in their respective journey
The Desert Care Network covers not only Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, but also JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio, and the Hi-Desert Medical center in Joshua Tree.
