Storm expected to bring heavy rain, officials urge caution when driving
Plenty of cars still were still on the road this evening despite the heavy rain.
Date Palm between 30th Avenue and Vista Chino was closed at around 4:30 p.m. Officials have said that some areas in Palm Springs, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
According to the National Weather Service, today’s rain broke a precipitation record in Palm Springs for this date. So far, 0.67″ of rain has fallen in the city, breaking the old record of .41 inches set in 1993.

Officials would like to remind drivers that during conditions like this it is important to use your headlights both day and night.
Rain is expected to continue over the next few days, make sure to check your windshield wipers to make sure those are functioning well.
These conditions can make roads slippery so make sure to drive slow in the days ahead. Winds do not appear to be a big factor in this storm system but wet roads can certainly create issues.
