PSUSD students honored for success while overcoming obstacles

The Palm Springs Leadership Association honored a student at each school in the district who was nominated by their school principal.

Students from every PSUSD elementary, middle, and high school who succeed despite facing one or more significant obstacles or challenges were nominated.

“It’s really exciting for the student because they are deserving to be recognized. It’s exciting for the parents they are also part of the support that have made these children successful,” said Joseph Scudder, president of the Leadership Association and principal at Two Bunch Palms Elementary School.

Hillary Medina, a student at Desert Learning Academy, was named the overall district winner to move forward for a possible scholarship.

“It was really exciting. I really didn’t think I deserved because everyone was so great but I’m really grateful,” Medina said.

The Palm Springs Leadership Association is comprised of Palm Springs Unified School District administrators and managers.
