Brothers arrested on suspicion of murder in Moreno Valley missing girl case
Two brothers have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the disappearance of Aranda Briones, a 16-year-old girl from Moreno Valley.
Briones was last seen on January 13 after a night out with friends in Moreno Valley.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, at around 10:30 p.m. on Feb 11, 18-year-old Owen Skyler Shover and 21-year-old Gary Anthony Shover were arrested on the 16200 block of Grevillea Street in Hesperia for the murder of Aranda Briones.
In a news conference this afternoon, investigators said Briones was last seen with Owen. Investigators said she and Owen were high school friends.
The investigator confirmed Briones’ body has not been located, but evidence recovered has led investigators to believe she was murdered.
According to records, Owen Shover faces one count of murder, while Gary Shover faces one count of conspiracy to commit murder. Owen is being held at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside and Gary is being held at Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta. They are both being held without bail.
They are set to appear in court at the Riverside Hall of Justice on February 15 at 8:00 a.m.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Briones body has not been found.
Her family spoke with News Channel 3, asking the public for help in getting any kind of information.
“I gotta try and hold on to the little piece of microscopic hope that is out there,” said Chapo lee Briones, Aranda’s father. “All I can say to whoever is responsible when you meet God, that’s when you will answer.”
Her last known location before she went missing was near Moreno Valley Community Park at 13380 Frederick Street, according to police. She reportedly went missing after a night out in Moreno Valley with friends.
Briones is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs about 110 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and has a visible septum piercing, according to police. She was last seen wearing a white and blue jacket, a dark-colored shirt and dark jeans.
She was last seen getting in a gray four-door car near the park. “She did have a bad choice of friends, I’ll be honest, you know everybody does,” Matthew Horstkotte, Aranda’s uncle told KABC. “Everybody makes mistakes, but you know one thing I want? I just want her home safe.”
