20th annual St. Jude cancer charity radiothon raises $82,000!

The radiothon is over. Thanks to residents across the valley, KUNA and La Poderosa were able to raise $82,000 to help in the fight against pediatric cancer!

The 20th St. Jude Radiothon hosted by KUNA and La Poderosa began Thursday.

The radiothon raises money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital to help fight pediatric cancer. There is no specific goal, but St. Jude officials say they would love to surpass last year’s of $92,000.

According to America’s Childhood Cancer Organization, around 300,000 children around the world are diagnosed with cancer each year. Cancer remains the most common cause of death by disease for children in America.

St. Jude provides cost-free care to families, who often don’t have the funds to pay for medical help. Most of the funding for the hospital comes from contributions.

The radiothon runs from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday & Friday.

Donations can be made by calling 1-800-626-8432. Volunteers will answer phones from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., however, the call center is open 24/7.
