7-year-old attacked by dog in Yucca Valley

A 7-year-old was hospitalized after being attacked by at a residence in Yucca Valley.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, they received a report of the attack Thursday at around 9:36 p.m.

Deputies were told the boy went in a room where the dog was lying on a dog bed. The dog became startled and attacked the boy.

The boy was bit in the face, causing a severe laceration. The boy was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Yucca Valley Animal Control has taken custody of the dog.

Nearly one month ago, a 70-year-old woman was died a short time after being viciously attacked by four dogs outside her home on the 59000 block of Sunflower Drive in Joshua Tree.
