Modernism Week headquarters impacted by rain

Thursday was the official start of Modernism Week, and the headquarters saw some rain damage.

CAMP stands for community and meeting place. This central hub for information is not set to officially open until tomorrow at 9 am, but inspections by the Fire Marshall were expected today.

“The tent is designed for this sort of thing. The issue that we’re experiencing is the ground around it is getting saturated, but we have a lot of contingencies right now, and we’re doing a lot of basically shoring up the building, so we have high confidence that everything will be fine,” said Bob Bogard, public relations with Modernism Week.

Residential flooding could be seen around the facility, across the street from Palm Springs Art Museum. Organizers wtih Modernism Week say last year, more than 25,000 people came through the site. Organizers say no events were cancelled for Modernism Week today, and there was no permanent damage from the rain.
