Horse dies during Presidents Day Parade in Indio

A horse died while performing at the 73rd Annual Presidents Day Parade in downtown Indio this morning.

The horse was a part of a group of horses walking and performing along Highway 111.

Thousands were in attendance as the horse collapsed in the middle of the road. Benjamin Guitron, administrative officer for the Indio Police Department, said officers screened off the scene to “ease the drama.”

Guitron said they believe the horse had either a “major heart attack or stroke.”
