Palm Springs holds 32nd annual Black History Parade downtown

The City of Palm Springs is celebrating Black History Month — holding the 32nd annual Black History Parade in downtown on Saturday.

“I came down to see my family for the black history parade. I loved it. I love the motorcycles, the cheerleaders the dances…” said Krisha Thompson.

Hundreds lined the streets and watched as several groups, cars and floats marched down Palm Canyon Drive. Many parade attendees say they’re grateful to be a part of a community which celebrates diversity and inclusivity.

“It was nice to see everybody having a good time…all races,” said Delphine Smith.

“Everyone is working together just to make art, music and community…so it really is a magical place,” said Jev Pic.

Many also enjoyed the Town Fair in Frances Park, which featured food vendors, musical performances and activities for the entire family.

“I think it’s pretty good because not everybody does this. And it’s good to learn more about your city,” said Mackenzie Padilla.

“Ithink it’s very important that we teach our kids to come together and do things like this,” said Theresa Rouzan.
