Modernism Week 2019 wraps up

Wet weather didn’t seem to put a damper on Modernism Week 2019 as more than an estimated 128,000 attendees flocked to this year’s event celebrating mid century architecture and contemporary thinking.

Guests came from across the country and the globe to take a peek at more than 300 displays, homes, attractions and events throughout the 11 day period.

Many local businesses, hotels, restaurants and retailers enjoyed a spike in business as well.

Last year’s economic impact was estimated around 47.5 million dollars and this year is expected to be around the same if not more, according to organizers.

Event coordinators say the thousands of dollars brought in from ticket sales goes directly back into the community and to organizations that sponsor attractions and viewings.
