Desert Hot Springs honored at “Academy Awards” of tap water

The stuff flowing out the taps of Desert Hot Springs is award-winning and world-renowned. At least, that’s according to the “Academy Awards of water”.

The city announced Thursday that its water was had once again been honored at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition.

“Berkeley Springs is the Academy Awards of water,” event ‘watermaster’ Arthur von Wiesenberger said at this year’s event.

This year there 112 entries in the contest and Desert Hot Springs came in fourth place in the municipal category. Submissions come from five continents.

Desert Hot Springs took home the competition’s gold medal in 1999 and 2004, being recognized for having the “Best-Tasting Municipal Drinking Water”.

The event is the largest water-tasting competition in the world, according to the Berkley Springs International Water Tasting competition.

10 cities entered in the municipal category this year.
