Indian Canyon Drive reopens to traffic

Indian Canyon at the wash has now reopened to traffic, after being shut down due to low visibility due to dust. The road opened shortly before 6:30 Friday morning.

The Palm Springs Police Department closed Indian Canyon Drive through the White Water wash due to blowing sand and poor visibility Thursday. The busy roadway remained closed Friday morning. Alternate routes for motorists are Gene Autry Trail to the east or Highway 111 to the west.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District also issued a windblown dust advisory for the Coachella Valley area effective through Friday evening.
