Hiker airlifted off Bump and Grind Trail after feeling ill

UPDATE: The hiker was airlifted off the trail around 11:30 am after feeling ill. The woman was taken to John F Kennedy Memorial Hospital for treatment.

A hiker rescue is underway on the Bump and Grind Trail in Palm Desert.

At 9:51 a.m., a report came in about a 60-year-old woman who had a medical emergency on the trail. Emergency personnel traveled down the trail and found the woman, who is now stable. A California Highway Patrol helicopter has been requested to the scene for a potential hoist rescue.

Emergency crews from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, CAL FIRE, and CHP are on scene assisting.

A command post has been set up behind the Target located at 72549 CA-111, Palm Desert, CA 92260, at the Bump and Grind Trailhead.

It is not known how far down the trail the woman is at this time.

This is the third rescue conducted on the Bump and Grind Trail in the last 30 days.
