Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Tribal Council election results

The results for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Tribal Council election have been released.

Tribal Council Chairman Jeff L. Grubbe continues in his elected two-year term. Grubbe was appointed as Chairman in 2012 after the death of Richard Milanovich . Grubbe won election to the seat later that same year. He has been working at the tribe since 1999.

Tribal Council Vice-Chairman Larry N. Olinger was re-elected to his fourth consecutive two-year term. Olinger was first elected to the position in 2012, however, he was first elected to Tribal Council in 1961.

Tribal Council Secretary/Treasurer Vincent Gonzales III was re-elected to his fifth consecutive two-year term. Gonzales was first elected in 2007 and has been working in Tribal operations since he was 16. He is the great-grandson of the last ceremonial bird singer and comes from a long line of family members who have held a position in the Tribe Council.

Tribal Council Member Reid D. Milanovich was re-elected to his sixth consecutive one-year term. Milanovich was first elected in 2014 and has worked for the as a Tribal Council Proxy and on the Tribe’s Scholarship Committee. He is the son of Richard Milanovich who served as Tribal Chairman for 28 years until his passing in 2012,

Tribal Council Member Anthony W. Purnel was re-elected to his third consecutive one-year term. Purnel has previously worked as a website administrator and has served on the Tribe’s Cultural Preservation Committee and Child Development Committee.

The Tribal Council elections are a matter of tribal law, and are managed privately by the Election Board. The results of the March 19 election were certified and became final on April 2 when the Tribal Council Members were sworn in.
