North Palm Springs wildfire 100% contained

A vegetation fire burning in North Palm Springs was 100% contained early Friday morning after quickly growing in size late Thursday.

The fire blackened 65 acres of land and fully contained as of 5:55 a.m. Friday.

The fire was reported at 10:20 p.m. near North Indian Canyon Road and Dillon Road.

According to Cal Fire Captain Fernando Herrera, as of 10:50 p.m., the fire had burned 10 acres.

Herrera said the wind-driven fire had a potential to grow to 50 acres.

Firefighters on the scene told News Channel 3 the fire was approximately 20 acres in size last night.

No injuries were reported, and no evacuations were ordered.
