Two dehydrated hikers rescued on Palm Springs trail

Authorities rescued two hikers suffering from dehydration Monday morning in Palm Springs.

According to the Palm Springs Mounted Police Search and Rescue, the rescue occurred at approximately 11:50 AM on a “popular local hiking trail.”

PSMP-SAR and Palm Springs Fire Department crews were called out to rescue a male hiker suffering from dehydration. The hiker was carried out to an AMR ambulance.

While carrying out the patient, rescuers received a call to assist another dehydrated hiker on the same trail. This hiker refused medical aid, according to PSMP-SAR.

The temperature during the rescues was approximately 110 Degrees, according to PSMP-SAR.

PSMP-SAR put out a warning to hikers urging them to not hike in the middle of the day, never hike alone and to always be prepared by carrying a lot of water and staying hydrating prior to hiking.
