Indio police take five into custody, one after standoff
Indio police were investigating an incident that left one person in critical condition on Sunday night at the Chevron gas station near the intersection of Highway 111 and Monroe Street.
A fifth suspect was taken into custody at a nearby apartment complex at approximately 8:30 a.m. Monday without incident. Police confirmed to News Channel 3 that this man was taken into custody in connection with the gas station incident.
Four suspects were detained earlier Monday morning after firearms were found in the area of the complex.
According to Indio police, a fight broke out in the parking lot of the gas station at 10:33 p.m. Two men and a woman were fixing their car when they were confronted by suspects who were driving a blue sedan. Six total suspects exited the blue car, and a fight ensued, according to Indio Police Department public information officer Ben Guitron.

The two men and women, who were driving a dark-colored Ford, attempted to leave the scene, running over one of the suspects from the blue sedan.
According to Guitron, the occupants of the Ford were not detained as they were attempting to leave the scene. The suspect struck by the ford was transported to JFK medical center in critical condition after the incident.
Indio police said they tracked the suspect car to the Cielo Vista Apartments a block to the northwest on the 81800 block of Shadow Palm Avenue.
During the investigation, police found a rifle on an apartment patio at one of the units. Police then made four suspects in the complex exit the unit, but one remained. The four suspects that exited were then taken into custody, but have not been booked.
