Special screening celebration for Lucille Ball’s 108th birthday

Lucille Ball is returning to the big screen for one-night only.

Fantom Events is presenting “I Love Lucy: A Colorized Celebration” on Aug. 6 to celebrate her birthday. She would have been 108 years old this year.

Audiences can watch five uncut, full-length colorized episodes, plus “Redhead Tales,” a newly produced and never-before-seen featurette on the colorization of “I Love Lucy,” according to Fantom Events.

An exclusive poster is also available.

Locally, three theaters will be featuring “I Love Lucy: A Colorized Celebration.” You can see the screening at the Mary Pickford Theater in Cathedral City, and the Century Theaters at The River, Rancho Mirage and La Quinta.

Showings are at 7 p.m. on Aug. 6.

Ball and her ex-husband Desi Arnaz lived in the Coachella Valley, where they owned three homes in Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells. They also participated in community events.

You can buy tickets to the screening here.

Turner Classic Movies is releasing a “I Love Lucy” colorized DVD collection. It’s available Aug. 13.
