Rep. Ruiz not among House Democrats who support impeachment

As of Thursday, Congressman Raul Ruiz is not among the growing list of Democrats in the House of Representatives who support the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

“The Special Counsel’s report and testimony make clear that the Russian government embarked on a long-term operation to undermine our elections, divide the country, and help President Trump’s campaign,” said Dr. Ruiz when reached for comment on the prospect of impeachment. “The conduct of the President – and the actions of members of his inner circle – are also deeply troubling, and the American people deserve answers.I support the Judiciary Committee’s ongoing investigation, and I look forward to hearing the Committee’s findings and next steps.”

In the interim, Ruiz plans to continue working towards progress on his key issues.

“I will also continue to focus on the issues that impact the everyday lives of the people I represent, like fighting for access to quality, affordable health care, lowering prescription drug costs, and caring for our veterans,” Ruiz closed in his statement.

Currently, 117 House Democrats have called for impeachment or have shown support for an impeachment inquiry into the President. There are 235 Democrats in Congress.
