CCPD investigates fatal shooting

UPDATE: Cathedral City homicide victim identified

Cathedral City Police continue to look fo clues into a possible weekend homicide. According to a news release from the Department this morning, police say they got a call of shots fired, in the area of Aliso Road near Avenida Juarez, around 6:45 Sunday night.

Police responded to the area and found a man with an unknown number of gunshots to his body. The man was pronounced dead on scene. Police say they know who the victim is, but are allowing the Riverside County Coroner’s Office to conduct their independent investigation and to release that information after formal notifications.

Police say they are investigating the death as a homicide, and have not released any suspect information at this time. They are asking anyone who may have information to contact Cathedral City detectives at (760) 770-0300 or Detective Rick Sanchez at (760) 202-2488.
