A non-profit organization that grades hospital safety has released a report that includes local hospitals.

The grades represent a hospital's overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.

"Leapfrog" has given an A rating to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage, and the Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree.

Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs received a C grade. "Leapfrog" gave a below-average rating to Desert Regional for most of its reviews regarding problems with surgery, along with numerous areas of communication between staff and patients.

The San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning received a D grade. The hospital received below average scores on all of the staff reviews.
