Woman arrested in connection with La Quinta homicide, body found in trash can
A woman was arrested early Friday morning in connection with a La Quinta homicide reported Thursday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
County jail records show that 32-year-old Palm Desert resident Cristina Noelle Canimo was taken into custody at 3 a.m. on the same street in which the body of the unidentified murder victim was found in a trash can, East Parkway Esplanade.
She is being held in Indio Jail on $1,000,000 bail. She faces one felony charge of murder with malice and is set to go to court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on November 26.
At 11:41 a. m.. deputies responded to a report of a body found in a dumpster on the 43500 block of East Parkway Esplanade in La Quinta. After investigating the scene, deputies found a dead body inside of a trash can at a residence on the block.
Neighbors told News Channel 3 that the home at the center of yesterday's crime scene is an elder care facility. News Channel 3's Jake Ingrassia discovered on Thursday that a residence on the same street is license as an elder care facility known as Sunbrook Residential Care. The facility has a history of recent state violations.
