Voters in Indian Wells will get the chance to vote on term limits for council members

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -

Voters in Indian Wells will get the chance to vote on term limits for council members.

The decision was made at Thursday night's City Council meeting.

Currently, after eight years council members must step down after a two-year term before running again.

The proposed change would limit council members in the future to only serve two four-year terms.

The election will be during the March 3rd Primary. The measure went before the council after residents submitted a petition.

Mayor of Indian Wells, Ty Peabody says "I'm very disturbed and disappointed that such a tactic is being considered in a city like Indian Wells." Further explaining he doesn't believe residents understand what they are voting for and that this is all being done for political reasons.
