A new east valley music festival debuts as the first public event hosted at the Empire Grand Oasis property in Thermal.

From enjoying off-roading to live music, five thousand people are expected for the two-day festival.

Attendees can test-drive the 2020 Land Rover Defender on 15 acres built for off-road use.

In addition, there will be performances by Anderson Paak & The Free Nationals, Mark Ronson and Q Tip, Sofi Tukker and more.

“We have had a lot of people working on this event for several months and we have almost seven hundred crew on the site," said Anastasia King, the festival director. "Everyone’s put their heart and soul into it and we’re just super excited to open to the public.”

King led KESQ News Channel 3 on an exclusive tour of the 4XFAR grounds.

Final preparations are still underway on the 35-acre lot for outdoor activities like fly fishing, drive track, rock climbing, ax throwing, yoga and more.

“The focus is really on honing on adventure skills so that once you leave 4XFAR, when you go on your next adventure you’re going to be super prepared," said King.

Alex Haagen III is the owner of the Empire Polo Club, which is home to Coachella and Stagecoach Festivals. He's excited to showcase the Empire Grand Oasis property.

“The Polo Club in Indio really got to the point where most of the work and the design and the creativity is done, " said Haagen. "It's hard to find new areas to improve and so we needed something else to keep the creative juices flowing and another place to add on that was a little different.”

Haagen said the new venue has hosted private events in the past but now his plan is finally coming to light.

“So we think this supports all of those things and really help this end of the valley the farther east end of the valley grow and catch up the west end of the valley and have their own special things," said Haagen.
