NorCal man struck and killed by vehicle on Highway 62

A Northern California man was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night along the Morongo Valley stretch of Highway 62.

Police say Joshua Alexander, a 28-year-old from Pine Grove was walking eastbound on the #2 lane of State Route 62 just east of East Drive at approximately 10:15 p.m. At around the same time, a Los Angeles man was driving a 1992 Nissan pickup truck eastbound on State Route 62 passing East Drive directly behind another vehicle.

As the two drivers were traveling along the highway, police say the vehicle in front of the Nissan swerved abruptly. The driver of the Nissan did not see why the vehicle swerved, then suddenly, the right front of the Nissan struck Alexander.

Police confirmed Alexander was pronounced dead from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
