14-year-old student airlifted after being struck by car at Thermal school bus stop

A 14-year-old high school student was struck by a car at a school bus stop in Thermal Thursday and had to be airlifted by helicopter to an area hospital.

The crash was reported on the 88700 block of Avenue 70 at 6:11 a.m.

The pedestrian is a 14-year-old girl who is a student at Desert Mirage High School. She sustained moderate injuries in the collision.

According to Dr. Maria Gandera, Coachella Valley Unified School District Superintendent, the vehicle involved was a car, not a bus.

The student was airlifted to a hospital in Moreno Valley.
