Woman fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in Indio identified

A woman who was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Indio nearly two weeks ago has been identified by the Riverside County Coroner's Bureau.

35-year-old Indio resident Christina Nicholson died in the early morning hours of February 3. The accident was reported in the roadway on the 81400 block of Highway 111 in Indio.

According to Indio Police Department public information officer Ben Guitron, officers were called to the scene at around 2:30 a.m.

The coroner's release was published today after repeated requests by News Channel 3 since the incident was first reported on.

No suspect vehicle description was provided after the crash.

Nicholson's family has created a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for her funeral services. From the page:

Christina was the victim of a tragic hit and run, and now we are all left at a loss. We need your help to give her the memorial she deserves.

Please pray for her family and for justice to come. And please give what you can, so we can give her a service, and a sense closure for her loved ones. She was a beloved Daughter, Sister and Mother.
