All-terrain vehicle involved in accident with train in Mecca

Riverside County Sheriffs deputies and the California Highway Patrol are investigating an accident in Mecca involving a train and an all-terrain vehicle.

The accident was reported just after 4:30 Sunday afternoon in the area of Hammond Road and Grant Street.

Cal Fire says whoever was riding the vehicle -- has not been found -- and there are no signs of anyone injured.

But at one point a helicopter was on standby.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff's department says two people were reportedly seen fleeing the area on foot.

The sheriff's department also says they had received a report of a stolen ATV around the time of the crash.
