Police investigating threat against Cathedral City High, appears to not be credible

CATHEDRAL CITY HIGH SCHOOL

Authorities are investigating a threat made towards Cathedral City High School Tuesday morning.

According to a school email, students reported being tagged in an Instagram post showing a picture of guns and threatened violence on the campus.

Joan Boiko, a spokesperson for the Palm Springs Unified District, confirmed that police and the district's Educational Technology Information Systems are investigating the post.

Boiko added that the post came from a fake Instagram account and that at this time, authorities do not believe there is any credible threat to the school.

The school and the district want to remind everyone to report anything that "doesn't look, sound, or feel right to them right now or in the future."
