20-year-old arrested in connection with Desert Hot Springs shooting
The Desert Hot Springs Police Department arrested a 21-year-old accused in a shooting that left a man hospitalized last week.
Manuel Rivera Villa was arrested over the weekend for his alleged role in a shooting Thursday night near the area of First Street and Mesquite Avenue, the Desert Hot Springs Police Department announced on Tuesday.
A police sergeant told News Channel 3's Jake Ingrassia the victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
Police spent several hours at the scene conducting an investigation.
The next day, detectives were able to identify Manuel Rivera Villa, 21, as the suspect involved in the shooting.
DSHPD, with the assistance of the Riverside County District Attorney's Office Gang Impact Team, tracked Rivera-Villa down and arrested him in the 12400 Block of Jasmine Drive in the unincorporated area of Desert Hot Springs.
Rivera-Villa was booked at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning for attempt murder and other related charges. County jail records show that he is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
