The U.S. Postal Service confirmed that an employee at the Rancho Mirage Post Office tested positive for coronavirus.

A U.S. Postal Service spokesperson told News Channel 3 that they believe the risk is low for employees who work at the Rancho Mirage Post Office.

The employee's identity and their current condition will be kept confidential under the Rehabilitation Act and the Privacy Act.

The Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Surgeon General have indicated that there is currently no evidence that coronavirus can spread through the mail and packages.

This is the second Coachella Valley post office employee to test positive for coronavirus in the past month.

On April 15, a worker at the La Quinta Post Office tested positive. The risk was low for employees as well and the office was kept open.
