Local high school football player raises funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in friend’s honor

Palm Desert lineman Ryan Neighbors launched a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society back in March to honor his friend Max Borbon, also a lineman at rival La Quinta High School, who was diagnosed with Leukemia last year.

Neighbors' fundraiser culminated with two blood drives this week. The first at Riccio's Steak and Seafood Restaurant on Tuesday, and the second today at Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church.  He even secured a $10,000 match donation. This donor is giving $100 to Neighbors' fundraiser in each blood donors name.  Neighbors' mother Gerry also said that any donations made to the fundraiser are matched.

There is still time to donate to support Ryan's efforts. Fundraising ends Sunday at Noon, click here to donate.

You can find more information about Ryan's campaign here.
