How to make sure your AC outlasts the summer heat

As the heat cranks up outdoors, our air conditioning temperatures tend to go down. Your AC is key to keeping you safe from the extreme heat, so it's important to make sure it's in the best shape possible.

Owner of AC Blue Conditioning and Heating, Sebouh Arslanian, said he's been much busier this season repairing countless AC units. At times finding himself work from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on the weekends too.

"If you don't have any idea about the electricity or air conditioning, don't touch it," said Arslanian. "The best thing you can do is just like filter change, the rest is like needs a professional hr contractor to work on it"

Arslanian said he suggests setting your temperature to 79 or higher so you can keep your AC from overworking. He has seen many homes overwork their compressor because their temperature is set too low.

"If you set the temperature as I mentioned earlier on, like 80 or 79, you will give the rest for your air conditioning and you will not like overwork it and cause damage or repairs to be done," said Arslanian

He also said to make sure to change the air filter on a regular basis. Getting your AC checked regularly by a professional, at least once a year, could help save you from potential damage down the road.
