Indian Canyon reopens, all roads back open following recent storm

Update 3/25/23 11:30 a.m.
North Indian Canyon through the wash has re-opened.

Update 3/24/23 11:30 a.m.
Araby Trail at the wash has re-opened.
Indian Canyon still has water running across the roadway and will most likely be closed all day Friday.

Update: 3/23/23 11:30 a.m.
Gene Autry Trail is now open at the wash.
East Vista Chino also reopened earlier this morning.

The road closures remaining in effect in Palm Springs are:

  • N. Indian Canyon Drive
  • Araby Drive South of Anza Trail

Update 3/22/23 6:00 a.m.

Road closures remain in effect due to flooding.

  • N. Indian Canyon Drive
  • Gene Autry Trail
  • Vista Chino Road
  • Araby Drive South of Anza Trail

There is no estimated time of when the roadways will reopen.

Update 3/21/23 11:50 a.m.

Gene Autry and Vista Chino have been closed once again due to due flooding, the city announced.

The city of Palm Springs reopened East Vista Chino Road and Gene Autry Trail to traffic through the Whitewater wash early Tuesday morning. North Indian Canyon Drive remains closed through its Whitewater Wash crossing.

The three major traffic arteries were all closed Monday afternoon due to low visibility from blowing sand.

A First Alert Weather Alert will be in place all day Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The Coachella Valley will be under a Wind Advisory from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday, plus a High Wind Warning for areas of the High Desert and local mountains. A Winter Storm Warning will be in place from 6 a.m. Tuesday until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
