Two people hospitalized after Indio shooting

Two people were hospitalized Monday after being shot in the city of Indio.

The shooting was reported at around 5:30 p.m. on the 44700 block of Palm Street, according to Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Department.

A witness near the scene told News Channel 3 she heard multiple shots fired.

“I heard the shots. I disregarded it at first thinking it couldn't be so close to home. And then someone else in the house confirmed that they also heard it," the witness explained. "This is where we live this where we work, and I want all of us to be safe. And we're just kind of on high alert right now.”

Guitron said he did not have an update on the condition of the two people injured.

The witness tells us they were shocked it happened so close to home.

"You hear things and oh, yeah, down the street, no, around the corner and so and so knew a guy that knew a guy but this is literally right here. So this one, this one's too close for me."
