John H. Furbee Aquatics Center opening in Desert Hot Springs ahead of heat wave
After some delays the John H. Furbee Aquatics Center is opening Monday in Desert Hot Springs, just ahead of the heatwave.
"Our residents, a lot of them don't have pools in their homes. So we love having this pool available to our residents to swim in and just have a great sense of community, and some family time in our pool, especially in the hot months," says Roberta Crncic with the City of Desert Hot Springs
She adds that opening day was delayed for some months because of a broken pump that needed manufacturing.
Safety and enjoyment remaining the focus as they prepare for opening day.
"Right now we're training some lifeguards to get recertified, and we have some other lifeguards that are already on staff."
Crncic also adds they're looking to hire more lifeguards throughout the Summer.
"It is a huge need in our community. So I urge you you know if you are interested, we will be having some lifeguard trainings in the near near future," says Crncic.
You can find those training dates on the City of Desert Hot Springs' Facebook page.
The John H. Furbee Aquatics Center will be open six days a week for lessons and free swim.
