KESQ

College of the Desert Superintendent/President Laura Hope begins to usher in transparency and community interaction as she starts her new position at the community college.

COD representatives share that President Hope has begun meeting with key stakeholders and recognizes the engagement between the college and its surrounding communities; how it's crucial to understanding diverse needs, securing inclusivity, and fostering positive environments on-campus.

"To effectively support students on their educational journey to create a brighter future, we need to understand their needs and establish a nexus with what we offer,” says Hope.

All College of the Desert campuses will be visited regularly by Hope to meet and interact with students, faculty, staff, and others invested in higher education, states the President's Office in an official statement.

President Hope, states, "The Coachella Valley has clearly demonstrated how passionate it is about education. My goal is to hear these various voices and bring us together to reach our common goal of providing students with an exceptional education.”

Listening sessions are to be scheduled in the coming weeks.
