Save on your energy bill: You may qualify for free energy-saving services and equipment

The summer temperatures may rise, but maybe your energy bills don't have to follow. Southern California Edison and Imperial Irrigation District offer free energy-saving upgrades for customers to improve their AC.

With the consistent triple digits, many AC units across the valley are working overtime. With energy bills increasing for many customers. SCE customer Christoper Blanchard's latest energy bill was nearly $400.

"When I got this number, I just said now is the time to really seriously take a look at what programs are available to me to bring this number down," said Blanchard.

He opted his home for SCE's free Residential Direct Install Program. SCE has contracted with Synergy Companies to offer energy-saving products and services that optimize air conditioning operation and efficiency. Products and services may include a smart thermostat, electronic fan delay controller, duct test and seal, and more.

"You know, it's a really easy process. Everything was done in about an hour. You don't have to do anything," said Blanchard.

SCE spokesperson Jeff Monford said to qualify for their free program, you must rent or own a single-family home, have central air conditioning, and have an active SCE service account.

"Energy is expensive. And one of the things that any household can do to try to use less is to be as efficient as possible," said Monford.

If you’re ready to get started, contact SCE's program implementer Synergy Companies, at 1-800-818-4298 to schedule a free consultation or click HERE.

Imperial Irrigation District has its Residential Weatherization Program for 2023, where participating IID electric customers can receive up to $1,000 in recommended energy-saving services and equipment that can help reduce heating and cooling costs.

IID customers currently enrolled in the district’s income-qualified Residential Energy Assistance Program can also receive an additional $500 in installed products and services through the weatherization program.

The program is open to all IID residential customers on a first-come, first-served basis until 2023 program funding is exhausted. To participate, please visit www.synergycompanies.com and select “Request Appointment” or call Synergy Companies at 1-800-818-4298.
