PSUSD welcomes the new school year with new amenities

Summer is almost over for students at Palm Springs Unified School District (PSUSD) as they are set to re-enter the classroom on Wednesday. There are some new things coming along with the new school year families may want to know about.

With the new school year comes new technology. PSUSD is making communication between parents and school administration/staff easy through a new program the district is utilizing called Parentsquare.

You can use the program through an app, desktop, or opt-in to receive text messages or phone calls.

Notifications you can get from Parentsquare will include activities happening among the district/schools, when your child misses school, and messages from teachers. There is a wide variety of other uses the district plans to use Parentsquare for.

Speaking of new technology, an arena is being built on the Palm Springs High School Campus for esports tournaments. The arena is expected to open in December. This will be where the district will host tournaments against other districts and offer learning opportunities.

Students will have access to the arena throughout the school day, and on weekends it will be open to the community.

Also coming this year is a new partnership with Riverside University Health System that will bring medical attention directly to the schools.

“It’s hard for families to get appointments with their doctors or to get in if their student is feeling ill, or maybe they just need immunization for school," said PSUSD Director of Health Services Laura Dyson. "We can bring this right to their neighborhood or school sites where they’re at. Then we can get them in school and keep them in school much quicker.”

Primary health services will be available and there will be plenty of opportunities throughout the school year to receive the medical services.

You can stay up to date on what's happening in the district by downloading Parentsquare.
